UPDATES:
We have received an e-mail from Mike Piazza. He informed us that he has been diagnosed with cancer. He is presently in the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, OK. He is trying to decide to either start treatment now or get more options.
Information has gotten to us about Durel Legendre. We learned that he was ill and this week was in the hospital and underwent surgery. Further word to us was that the surgery went well and he is doing fine.
Eddie was in the hospital for over a week. It is reported tht he had some kind of stomach infection which traveled up towards his heart. He had to spend some 3 days in the intensive care unit. He is presently at home trying to get his strength back. UPDATE: We have spoke with Eddie and he informed us that he is back home after having a hole in his stomach, which was from a previous operation, stsitched up. He tells us that he is presently having to walk with a walker and it is possible that in the future he will need a wheelchair.
We have learned that Al Aucoin went into the hospital in the past couple of days and was operated on for a hernia in his chest. He will not be albe to play in golf touurnaments for a while.
Also information was received that Don Schoenbrun is under the weather. His exact illness is presently unknown.
We have learned that Dick Meek had a fall and fractured his tailbone. It is expected that Dick will be out for a couple of months. We wish him well and a speedy recovery.
UNFORTUNATE DEATH: Unfortunately we lost another long time good standing member. On Mardi Gras day of this year, we learned that Oneal Mitchell passed away. It is our understanding that he suffereed a heart atack. He will be truly missed. Oneal was not only a very good golfer who played at least 5 days a week, and in all of out NOGA tourneys, but he was a gentleman of the game and always had a smile for you.
We have learned that Frank Heuer is having some health problems. He has cnacelled out of the upcoming tourneys. It is known that he has to undergo some bone marrow tests or treamtments. When we har more on Frank, we will pass it along.
We have learned that the wife of Larry Wagner suffered a stroke. She is known to be at home at this time, but is in need of constant care.
Charlie Brand's wife whom suffered a stroke a while back, has been moved out of Waldenburg Square on the Westbank and has been moved closer to their home on the Northshore where Charlie is able to get more help in caring for her. She is getting along better but still needs constant care.
Unfortunately, our oldest playing member, Bill Harvey, 92 yrs old, had to withdrew from the Riverlands Tourney as his back would not let him play. At the present time he will not be playing in our next couple of tourneys. It is not known if Bill will be able to play anymore or not. We wish him the best. UPDATE: Bill has renewed his membership for the 2012 year. He is still unable to play at this time, but is hopefully that he might be able to particiapte in a few tourneys throughout the year.
This leaves Mickey Hurley as our oldest active player. Mickey is 91 years old and still going strong.
Some information which you may or may not have known. At least 30% of our membership is at the age of 75 years or over. Consequently we can expect to hear of some health problems of the members. However, we do not get enough information from members about other members having some health problems. Please pass the word along on any member which you may hear about whom is having health problems. A lot of our other members may wish to know this and possibly contact the person to wish him the best of luck.
PLEASE KEEP THESE MEMBERS, AND OTHER MEMBERS WHO ARE ILL, IN YOUR DAILY PRAYERS. YOU CAN NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF PRAYERS.
If any member knows of another member who may under the weather, suffering an illness or incapacitated in some kind of way, please let us know so that we can pass the word to all the members. Sometimes a phone call or well wishes in some form such as an e-mail helps make the day brighter for the person.
